Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel 9% ABV

To be a craft beer drinker is an interesting journey in part due to an ever evolving palate and changes in one’s definition of a great beer. I’m drinking and ordering beers today that I would have poured down the drain years ago and I find myself standing at a crossroads. I’m at an intersection where I’m taking my current passion of Belgian beers and fusing that with IPAs  and really testing my palate and likes in the realm of Belgian IPAs. It started with Piraat Ale, then Breuery Mischief a few in between and now my latest Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel.

Out of all the beers I’ve tried Chouffe Houblon stands out the most in being the most Hop forward Belgian IPA I’ve had. It’s really pushed the limits of my taste buds and I found myself wanting to score this low but in turn have recognized it as being a good beer even though its not my favorite beer. Its like recognizing a beautiful woman, she might not be your taste in women but you can still recognize her beauty. Overall Chouffe Houblon is one of those beers that I can say “ehh its not my thing but its good.”
